A lap book (Reading for Character: A Treasury of Literature from A to Z) is provided for the teacher to use in implementing literature that reinforces the character trait taught for each lesson. Each of the 26 selections in the lap book is short enough to read in one session and beautifully illustrated for student appeal. Genres represented include poetry, nursery rhymes, finger plays, folk tales, fairy tales, and pledges. Each selection has a meaningful message so that the “moral of the story” truly is the character trait being taught. The last page of the book includes brief annotations for each selection—background information, instructions for finger plays, tips for getting the message across most clearly, and so on.
