Each component that the teacher might want to take home for preparation purposes is portable. For example, the Teacher’s Edition contains lesson plans for all 26 lessons and includes reproductions of all the Teaching Charts.
Fourteen large two-sided Teaching Charts represent the core component of the program. The first chart serves as a table of contents for the set of cards. Each of the remaining charts is to be used for two lessons—one side per lesson. An easel is provided so that the charts can be displayed upright. (The charts are so visually appealing that you will want to keep them out as much as possible.) Each chart states a title of the lesson and provides several different art elements. Always included are a map of the country featured in the lesson, a globe showing the location of that country, a compass rose, an illustration of the child featured in the lesson, an illustration of an animal native to the country, and a decorative border. Other art elements are present as needed for the lesson.
A 32-page blackline master book is also provided. It includes an introductory letter to be sent home and a page for each lesson. Different ideas for using the blackline master pages are included at the front of the blackine master book.
The final component is the literature lap book, Reading for Character: A Treasury of Literature from A to Z. This, too, is a self-contained item for the teacher, since the annotations for each selection are included on the last page of the book.
